US Federal CloudAdvisory & readiness

FedRAMP readiness, before your 3PAO arrives.

FedRAMP is the US government’s security authorisation programme for cloud services used by federal agencies. Verigo prepares cloud service providers for it — defining the authorisation boundary, closing control gaps against NIST SP 800-53, and building the documentation your independent assessor will test.

What FedRAMP is

The gateway to federal cloud contracts.

Federal agencies can only use cloud services that hold a FedRAMP authorisation at the right impact level. Authorisation requires implementing a NIST SP 800-53 baseline, documenting it in a System Security Plan, passing an assessment by an accredited Third Party Assessment Organisation (3PAO), and running continuous monitoring afterwards.

Verigo’s role is advisory and readiness. We are not a 3PAO: we get you ready so the independent assessment goes smoothly, and we coordinate with the 3PAO you select. FedRAMP is also modernising its process (including the FedRAMP 20x initiative), and we keep your approach aligned with current programme guidance.

Choose the right baseline: Low, Moderate or High (or the tailored Li-SaaS path)
A clear authorisation boundary is the single biggest driver of cost and effort
Evidence from SOC 2, ISO 27001 and NIST work can be reused
What FedRAMP readiness covers

The building blocks.

Authorisation boundary

Defining exactly which components, data flows and services are in scope.

NIST SP 800-53 controls

Implementing the selected Rev. 5 baseline, including FedRAMP-specific parameters.

System Security Plan & attachments

The SSP, policies, procedures, inventories, diagrams and plans the 3PAO will assess.

Readiness assessment

Preparing for the 3PAO Readiness Assessment Report and full security assessment.

Continuous monitoring

Monthly vulnerability scanning, POA&M management and annual assessments.

How Verigo delivers FedRAMP

Four steps, one accountable team.

Engage any single stage or the whole journey. Every engagement reuses the controls and evidence you already have, and runs on Verigo Assure so compliance stays current after we finish.

FedRAMP questions

Good to know before we start.

Questions about scope, timelines or how FedRAMP fits with your existing frameworks? A senior practitioner will walk you through it.

No. We provide advisory and readiness services and coordinate with the independent, accredited 3PAO you engage. Keeping preparation and assessment separate is how the programme is designed to work.

It depends on the impact of the federal data your service will handle. Most commercial SaaS offerings pursue Moderate; low-impact SaaS may qualify for the tailored Li-SaaS path. We assess your data types and agency use cases to recommend the right one.

It varies widely with boundary complexity and current maturity. Organisations with a mature SOC 2 or ISO 27001 programme typically need several months of remediation and documentation before a 3PAO assessment.

Yes. Many controls and much of the evidence overlap with NIST SP 800-53. Our gap assessment shows what carries over and what FedRAMP adds, such as specific parameters, documentation and continuous monitoring.
